The Vitriol must stop NOW

ALL the Vitriol must stop NOW.  (Liberals, Progressives, Socialist’s, Moderates, Conservatives, Democrats Republicans, Libertarians, etc.)  Positions, platforms, party is not well served when anyone sinks to vilifying the opposition and their ideas. Calling the opposition Deplorables, Garbage, Nazis, Fascists only enflames and encourages violence which we have witnessed and experienced this week.

Our Nation and Our Constitution embraced “Freedom of Speech” but with the hostility and muckraking currently raging, mature speech is quickly being replaced with emotional radical speech which incites hate and violence.

There was a time in our history when members of Congress and Senate would meet socially after the official meetings to discuss each of their positions to identify and present their rationale and to hear those of the opposition. The goal was to identify the issues, find agreement and confront differences with the goal of compromise and a workable resolution all or most could support.

That is no longer the case. We are divided and each camp is unwilling and incapable of sitting down for any discussion with the other. Rather the Name Calling, Muckraking, Emotional Vitriol is all either side can exclaim.

If we want to have any hope of avoiding more senseless violence, we must all DEMAN that our representatives, Senators, Administration and Judiciary find a means to maturely and rationally meet identify the issues, find areas of argument, confront differences and then make necessary compromises which result in a resolution we can all work with.

A comment I heard seems to capture the issue; If everyone leaves a negation somewhat disappointed, it was a good negotiation with an equitable arrangement.

Our leaders, legislators and judges, need to accept this truth and eliminate the current defamatory tenor of political utterances.

I pray we can look to the example of Charlie Kirk and his willingness to meet with and have open, truthful discussions with those in opposition. It is difficult to identify anyone who can replace him in today’s state of our Republic.

May God Bless the United States of America including our Leaders, Legislators and Jurists.
